About the College
All Schools and institutes of the CMHS offer professional degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels except for the Institute of Public Health which offers postgraduate degrees at MPH/MSc and PhD levels. However, the IPH is heavily engaged in offering public health courses to undergraduate students of the other Schools and departments in the CMHS. The CMHS currently has over 7,000 students, and employs over 1,000 full-time faculty members. The College currently offers 22 undergraduate, 38 postgraduate programs, seven PhD programs, Seven specialty certificate and 3 subspecialties certificate program. The university of Gondar comprehensive Specialized referral Hospital (UoGSRH) is the teaching hospital of the College. UoGSRH is one of the largest specialized hospital in Ethiopia, with over 300 beds, and serves as a training center for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, dentists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, medical laboratory technologists, radiology technologists, and others who shoulder the responsibilities to solve the health problems of the community and the country at large.
In line with the mission and vision of UoG, the CMHS exercises unique roles in training highly skilled health professionals at MPH/MSc, PhD, specialty and subspecialty levels. This allows it to contribute to the expansion of quality health care, education and research in the country. The CMHS is the only institution where some specialized tertiary health care is rendered. Moreover, under the new reorganization of UoG, the CMHS is expected to enjoy a high level of academic and administrative autonomy.
